My nonfiction book The Long Distance Relationship Guidebook is finally posted on major online bookstores such as www.amazon.com, www.bn.com, and www.borders.com. What a relief. Sometimes it's hard to believe that things will work out as planned. It's based on years of my experience and over 100 surveys and scores of personal interviews I collected from Monterey Institute international grad students and fellow lecturers at the UAE university where I now work. I felt like I had no choice but to write that book. I know it's not an easy thing to live apart from your loved one, and I wanted to help make that path easier and perhaps even fun for other people pursuing that endeavor. The only other time I think I've been so engaged in any task, aside from writing this historical novel, is when I gave birth. No anesthesia. Only one thing I'm not content with regarding the posting of the book on Amazon is that my book description on the book site didn't translate well with the bulleted points, but that should be fixable.

Meanwhile, I've been working on the first draft of the current day part of my historical novel. I've also been focusing on the concept of character journey lately, and how each character contributes to the story by telling its version of the story. This is a big deal to me since before I was simply focusing on the complexity of each character's qualities, but not necessarily how the characters connected to each other within the story for the purpose of telling the story, or how characters layer upon each other in the telling of the story.
I've been sick with flu, cold, and arthritis flareups the past two weeks, all overlapping. At the same time, although all these things have worn me out, I've had more quiet time to reflect on the direction I want my story to go.
